Intense PC2
I first had a fit-PC as router, then a fit-PC2 as home server, then a Raspberry Pi as HTPC and now an Intense PC2 as router/server/HTPC.
Like fit-PC, fit-PC2, fit-PC3, fit-PC4 and Intense PC, Intense PC2 is a fanless mini PC from Compulab. Intense PC 2 is their latest and most powerful mini PC:
- Intel Haswell i3/i5/i7
- Intel HD Graphics 4400
- 2 × Gigabit ethernet
- Wi-Fi 802.11ac
- 4 × USB3
- 2 × USB2
- 2 × HDMI
- Display port
- Power consumption: 6 - 24 W
I measured its power consumption:
- 0.4 W when switched off
- 15.1 W while inside the bios configuration
- 7 W on KDE login screen
- 7.8 W in KDE
- 10.6 W while updating debian
- ≈ 15 W while watching a Full HD movie in XBMC (video decoded in software)
So far I'm quite happy about the power consumption, I was expecting more.
On the downside I tried XBMC with hardware video decoding through VAAPI but the video quality was very bad. Need to test that more later.
Next step: making it a Wi-Fi access point.
