Stop Google Groups

Eleventh post of my Stop Google series.

What is it?

Google Groups is the nearly unmaintained mailing list system from Google. You can create your mailing lists on it and hope you won’t have any issues with it because Google is doing little about it. For instance, if you register with some specific kind of email addresses, Google registers you with another email address!

Alternatives

Mailing list managers are software sending and receiving emails through SMTP and managing subscriptions (through SMTP or web interface).

• Majordomo (probably the first one that was created)
• mailman
• phpList (this is a newsletter system, only the owner can send emails compared to software like mailman where everybody can send emails to the group)
