Stop Google Chrome

First post of my Stop Google series, so I’ll start with an easy one: Google Chrome.

What is it?

Google Chrome is a web browser, that is, a software you run on your computer to access web pages.

Google Chrome is a pretty decent web browser. The open source part of Google Chrome is released as Chromium on which Chrome ads some proprietary stuff like the PDF reader, the Flash player, auto-update, some Google services integration… and who knows?

Alternatives

If you really like Chrome, the best is to switch to Chromium; you can usually install it very easily on GNU/Linux distributions, might be more complicated to install on Windows/Mac OS since I think they are not providing pre-compiled installable packages.

Personally, I would recommend Mozilla Firefox. It’s technically great, it runs on a lot of Operating Systems, it’s a free and open source software and the guys at Mozilla have great ethics.
